Bathroom

Today we went looking for a new bathroom suite. After looking around we found a nice suite for £399. We started to make purchase noises, so we were sat down at a terminal, where they started to take details.

[info]lursa said, "We'd like installation as well please."

Without batting an eyelid the person serving us said "That will be at least £2500. It does include the suite."

Our jaws dropped as we did the maths in our head - £2100 to fit a toilet, basin and bath. No doubt extra for the shower unit I'd like fitted too. I;m certain if we'd asked them to do tiling and flooring it would be even more.
The quote we got (from MFI) at Christmas for the fitted kitchen (sink, cooker, fridge-freezer, numerous cupboards) has a cheaper installation cost than this!!!

So, we're back at home, a little shell-shocked, wondering if we'd grossly under-estimated the cost of fitting a bathroom suite, or if B&Q are taking the piss.

We'll try to get some quotes from local plumbers, just to see what the going rate is.

Well, it depends how fancy you want it done, but for a grand I'll come round and install it for you myself :D

Seriously, it can't be that tough to do it yourself. Judging from the plumbers I've met. All you need is a few tools, a few bits, rip out legacy fittings, bosh new ones in, tighten up nuts, tube of grout, wallop. Job done.

Oh, turn off the water though :D

I'd do it for £750 ;) and I'll throw in tiling for free. :D
